Tips to Decorate for the Fall

Fall is a lovely time of the year as it is full of amazing traditions, festivals, and activities. The fallen leaves under our feet, tailgating, selecting the perfect pumpkin for carving, trick-or-treating, etc. add to the charm of this season. There are loads of opportunities to spend time with loved ones.

So when this glorious time arrives, why not do a spot of decorating as well? Here are some ideas to start you off:

  • To create a balanced and cohesive look, use the accent color in a space or room at least three times. It could be deep orange, rich gold, or dark red – the perfect colors to represent fall.
  • Use bronze trays, vases, bowls etc. instead of silver items to incorporate more warmth in the surroundings.
  • Place a fall-colored ceramic or clay pot of fresh flowers on a side table next to a chair. Sunflowers look amazing during this time.
  • Add some throw pillows in your living room or bedroom. Make sure you coordinate with existing furnishings, upholstery, artwork and accessories. Bring out the soft, tasseled throw that is too comfy for the hot summer months. Drape it over a chair, sofa or bed to add visual warmth and layering.
  • Create potpourri with dried leaves and pine cones. You can also fill up an elongated bowl with pine cones and seasonal veggies (real or artificial).
  • It is time to replace ivory candles with golden or amber colored ones. They really add depth and character to any room they are placed in. If preferred, select candles that are scented with spiced apple or cinnamon to captivate the sense of smell and fill the room with a delicious aroma.
  • Use antiqued or tan lamp shades instead of off-white, as they can cast an inviting, yellow glow. It basically mimics the feel of being around a camp fire. The ambience is soothing and comfortable.
  • Exchange a table lamp for a floor lamp which will also provide more space on the table for a beautiful fall display.

These are just a few ideas to help you begin. You can call upon you inner genius and come up with tips of your own! Check out these lovely accessories – some may prove to be useful in decorating your home for fall. Decorating can be fun and the end result is definitely worth the time and effort being invested.
